*istD & SMC Pentax-M 40mm test photo

Enid, Oklahoma

Photograph taken with a SMC Pentax-M 40mm f/2.8 lens mounted on a digital Pentax *istD camera, using hyperfocal focusing. Exposure was determine with a Sekonic L-398M light meter. Because of the size of the sensor (23.7x15.6mm) in the *istD, the focal length of the 40mm lens is increased by 1.5 to 60mm.

Ashai Optical introduced the 40mm lens in 1977 as part of the M-series lenses for their new MX and ME cameras. The five-element lens was 18mm (0.71") in depth and accepted a 49mm filter. You can see the lens at http://www.pbase.com/richarda/image/34415219.

This 1925 Baldwin-built steam locomotive is displayed at the Railroad Museum of Oklahoma.
