The mature flower of the musk or nodding thistle (Carduus nutans).
Under the Oklahoma Noxious Weed Law, the musk thistle is deemed a public nuisance.
This specimen was growing in the center median of state highway 51 west of Stillwater, about one kilometer east of the entrance to Lake Carl Blackwell.
