View from a Keep

Tuesday 17th May - Day 150

Or rather, the lack of one.... not being 8 feet tall, nor being 10 feet closer to the window, I can't show you the archers eye view... but I can show you the state of the internal walls of the castle.

Lydford Castle, technically a keep, dates from 1195 and was originally erected as a prison.

For those who remember (or even those that don't :) ) my very first PaD, Lydford Church at Sunset was taken from the mound surrounding the castle

The external view is

Great shot, Lee. I know how hard these are to do; I tried a few at a fortress in Quebec last summer. Very tough to capture the feeling inside and a hint of outside as well, without either being too dark or blown out. Excellent job; I couldn't do it. :)

Lovely image, Lee ...
The lighting is so subtle on the sides of the wall ... such gorgeous textures!

Brilliant shot Lee. Love how the light rests on the plants. Really does feel like a dark, dank cell.

Soooo, am I the only one feeling claustrophobic??? ;) I do like the greenery on the walls! And I love your first PAD shot! :)

It really gives you the feeling you are there...dark and damp. Nice chink of light from the 'window'

Lee I think this is a great shot... I enjoy how the light slightly lumninates the rocks leading the eye to the opening. I can smell the dampness. Your caption and comments bring this alive. Great having the reference to your earlier picture.
