Spinsters' Rock

Thursday 13th January 2005 - Day 26

This is a Dolmen, or what remains of a neolithic burial barrow, once the barrow collapses. It dates from between 4000 and 2500 BC, late Stone Age. For scale, i could fit under it, stooping very little.

I suppose this is less than 10 miles (16 kilometres) from home, but I had never found it. I am thankful that I found it today.

Memo to self... when using pop-up flash as fill in, take lens hood off!

I'm a bit brighter today, the crown has been glued back in, so I am back on solids again.

Lee, you live in such an interesting place. What a neat formation, and to capture it with such a dramatic sky is an added bonus! Bravo :)

My lord what an awesome sky in the background and that rock just truly beautifies this entire image even more.

Beatiful, I love the photo within the photo created by the rock framing the tree. This is excellent. I have to VOTE.

Nice image, but what an awful name for it. Glad you're back in shape, quasi.
