If I remember correctly, this is a replica of a post used to climb up and keep a lookout for ships or mariners in distress. Further information.... it is about 15 feet (4.5 metres) tall, and is at the top of a 200 ish foot (about 60 metres) cliff.

Oh, and I will not climb it!!
