this is a good image it shows how kids back them were been treated like adults because it did not matter how old they were they had to work and have responsibility just as an adult would. this kids had a hard time they weren't like normal kids they couldn't go out and play and have fun with their friends they had to work hard.

Impressive shot, and very good photo. I am truly amazed at what I've seen. It must have been tough for that little one if he is smoking.
We all must remember that these are war children and things were very tough for them in these years.
I would have done the same thing ^.^

If the portriat was not so focused on his face you would be able to ses the ak-47 he is holding ...

this is just weird..
he looks like a 40 year old or something
smoking like that..
it should be banned..
its appauling and honestly disgraceful..
under any circumstances this should definetly be banned..

I don't imagine many youngsters were able to hold onto any
of the innocence children of this age should possess.
When I see photos like this, I always wish I could know the
rest of the story of his life. Perhaps he lives in Southern
California in Westminster. There are many Vietnamese communities
in this area.
This is excellent. I hope you gave up

I guess they thought every thing the soldiers did was great... also smoking.....
caveman_lee01-Jul-2007 16:38

Traumatic image, hooked on the weed. v

Again a wonderful portrait, the way how you captured the war in the eyes of a soldier is more valuable than th official photos...thanks Richard.

This is thought provoking, Simon. Hard to believe someone so young would smoke, and seem so at ease doing so! V

Smoking at such a young age is so disturbing to see,( Not to mention the war itself) I agree with Claudia, I would not trust him as well. Great Journalism!
