This is the second of three tunnels found along the N&W Pocahontas Branch. Located just a 1/2 mile outside of Pocahontas, VA is Pocahontas Tunnel No. 2. Measuring 366' in length, it was a natural rock tunnel from the time it was bored in the early 1880's until it was outfitted with a concrete lining in 1915. WV Route 102 passes above the east portal seen here (note the guardrail). Obviously there has been significant damage to the track here due to rock slides and washouts over the years.
