Thanks for your vote Relectionsbyruth...It took about 5 minutes for Wylie to coax the Titmouse down. A few weeks ago he got a cardinal to land on his hand---guess what? No camera!!!

Thanks...In addition to wide aperture, a longer focal length will give a shallower depth of field helping to blur background clutter. Good luck with your shooting.

fantastic shot!! i'm a newbie so i don't quite understand why i can't reproduce your results..my understanding is that the lower the aperature (f2.8) the more blurred the background will be...so how is it that i can shoot berries on a bush at f2.8 but the branches around it still be in focus while your bird and hand are totally clear but the background is not at f5.6??
