Bill Gates in the Antarctic on board Octopus, 126 m length yacht,

The owner and founder of Microsoft, Bill Gates,
will carry out as from Monday a cruising in the Antarctic on board Octopus, one
of the five larger yachts of the world, property of its ex-associate Paul Allen,
one learned from official source in Ushuaia (southern).
The ship will leave the wearing of Ushuaia towards 19H00 local (22H00 GMT) for
a cruising of approximately ten days in the Antarctic, indicated to AFP the
Argentinian director of the wearing of Ushuaia, Gustavo de Robles. This last affirmed
that two private jets had landed in the day in Ushuaia and that their passengers,
of which Bill Gates, had been transferred then onto Octopus by helicopter.
In addition to two take-off runways for helicopters, Octopus also has a
pocket submarine to explore sea-beds. An about sixty men of crew live on board
this yacht considered as one of most luxurious of the world with swimming pool,
movie theater and ground of tennis shoe, according to Web sites' specialized in
the yachts of luxury.
The Antarctic, protected until now from the national and mercantile appetites
by an international treaty, is a destination more and more appraisal by the tourists
of the whole world.
Nearly 29.000 tourists should go to the Antarctic in 2006-2007, according to the
Association of the tour operators to the Antarctic (IAATO).

Le patron et fondateur de Microsoft, Bill Gates, va effectuer à partir de lundi une
croisière en Antarctique à bord de l'Octopus, un des cinq plus gros yachts du monde,
propriété de son ex-associé Paul Allen, a-t-on appris de source officielle à Ushuaia (sud).
Le navire, de 126 mètres de long, devait quitter le port d'Ushuaia vers 19H00 locales
(22H00 GMT) pour une croisière d'environ dix jours en Antarctique, a indiqué à l'AFP le
directeur argentin du port d'Ushuaia, Gustavo de Robles. Ce dernier a affirmé que deux
jets privés avaient atterri dans la journée à Ushuaia et que leurs passagers,
dont Bill Gates, avaient ensuite été transportés sur l'Octopus par hélicoptère.
Outre deux pistes d'envol pour hélicoptères, l'Octopus dispose également d'un sous-marin
de poche pour explorer les fonds marins. Une soixantaine d'hommes d'équipage vivent à
bord de ce yacht considéré comme l'un des plus luxueux du monde avec piscine, salle
de cinéma et terrain de basket, selon des sites web spécialisés en yachts de luxe.
L'Antarctique, continent blanc protégé jusqu'à présent des appétits nationaux
et mercantiles par un traité international, est une destination de plus en plus
prisée par les touristes du monde entier.
Près de 29.000 touristes devraient se rendre en Antarctique en 2006-2007,
selon l'Association des voyagistes en Antarctique (IAATO).
