Rattle Snake

South Mountain Park

This speckled rattlesnake slithered across the hiking trail in front of me before hiding under some prickly pear cacti.

Indeed....speckled is most correct. I am glad to see someone out there is knows alittle about the flora and fauna of Arizona. It is such a special place, full of wonders. Not every snake is a diamondback.. not ever bird a chicken hawk,,, not every wild dog a coyote....not every chukwalla a gila monster......and who calls prickly pear cactus a beavertail?? Dont think this photographer is from around these parts.

Might want to pull out your snake book again...or throw it away. This is not a diamondback. Go do your homework. I'll be back.
