South Mountain Park

In southern Phoenix lies the largest city park in the United States. South Mountain Park is 16,500 acres (25 square miles / 66 square kilometers).

The ruins are reached by entering the park at the corner of S 17th Ave and W Thunderhill Drive. Walk north about 3/4 mile and you will come to the ruins, located at the foot of the steep slope rising to the north. I have not been able to verify what they are, but I have heard it was a hunting lodge build in the 1920s. There is the rear axle of a 1927 Overland Touring Car in a nearby wash, so this could be true.
