Small Iridescent Fly

This little guy must have the worlds fastest reflexes. I must have taken about 50 shots of this guy, of which maybe 5 or so were good and at least 35 in which he wasn't even in the frame!!

I would have him perfectly framed in my viewfinder, I would click on the shutter and he somehow would be gone from the frame before the shutter curtain would open. Just to irritate me more 1/2 of the time he would be back in the frame as soon as I could look through the viewfinder again (in a slightly different location), and the other 1/2 he would be off to the next leaf and I would have to find him again - which was tough since he was tiny!

LOL, he was playing games with you and enjoyed the attention, but finally he's framed :o)

Nice composition, which must have been tough with this choice of subject. This is a great shot of a long-legged fly. If you're interested, the family is called Dolicopodidae. Those hairs on the leaf are very interesting. Do you know what plant it was on? Cheers!

Great shot of a difficult subject. I have tried to photograph these too and I know what you mean. These guys are fast and almost impossible to sneak up on!

You nailed the focus on this one; nice colors, too.
