Designed by Finnish-American architect Eliel Saarinen in 1916, the Triton Pools are a series of successively elevated
reflecting pools. At the top pool are bronze sculptures designed by Swedish sculptor Carl Milles based on the
classical myth of Triton, a sea god with the head of a man and the tail of a dolphin. This photograph also
shows Milles' statue of Europa and the Bull overlooking this top reflecting pool:

In this scene the Tritons are escorting Europa and the Bull on their journey to Crete.
The names of Milles' sculptures in the pool are as follows: Triton with Fishes; Triton with Fishes; Triton with Shell;
Triton with Shells; Pair of Sharks; Three Fishes; Swimming Tritons; Battle of Tritons; and
Swimming Mermaid with Fish.
