At one time there were several one room school houses in Wrentham, this one located near Wampum Corner. Now it is the Gearge W. MacInnis American Legion Post. Photo from from the book "Images of America - Wrentham" by C. Gordon Woodhams and Earle T. Stewart - Arcadia Press - 1999 - ...................................See current photo of the American Legion from Barbara Larsen's "Wrentham Buildings - 2009" album .

The Legion Hall is very open, never closed. I think you may be thinking of the VFW around the corner. We are alive and well. In fact, we have over 100% membership each year with the Auxiliary, Legion and Sons of the Legion. The hall upstairs is a popular spot for function rentals - pictured in a recent photo above in 2009. We can host birthday parties, dances, luncheons, post funeral bereavement gatherings get togethers etc.. You can reach us @ 508-384-2932. Ed Moran is the club Manager while Rick Cross is the Commander of the Wrentham Legion Post 225.

Unfortunately, I just heard (2010) that the Legion Hall is closing down. I hope that the town keeps the building as a historical site. What a shame to see the old places of history leave us.
