20100105 - Snowy

MonoMonth

Well, the drugs sorted the headache - that and a bracing walk through the snow. It looked a bit too bad to drive to work this morning, so stayed in bed for a while then went for a wander, then fired up the work laptop! :o)

Most impressed with the tripod - carbon fibre so the legs were nice and warm to the touch! Much better than my old aluminium monster :o)

A 2-stop ND-Grad used here to balance the reflections - but I think it could have done with three stops really as I've had to apply a bit of a curve to the bottom of the image to brighten it.

Canon EOS 5D ,Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM
1/20s f/6.3 at 22.0mm iso100 full exif

other sizes: small medium large original auto

Love the feel of this image. I think it is the mix of the high-key sky and the level of detail in the reflection. Very cool effect.

Guest 06-Jan-2010 17:33
but! but! the water is not frozen? How are you gonna skidoo on that, do ice fishing, skate, play hockey, look at the fish swim below the ice? But for the photo, it makes spectacular. :)

This is really gorgeous Phillip... like something out of a dream... V.
Doug Cruden05-Jan-2010 21:10
This is fantastic - it's almost abstract in the way the trees and branches reflect on the water. Brilliantly done, but don't beat yourself up over a lousy ND filter...that's OUR job, LOL!!! V
