The Hungarians erected the Liberty Statue by Zsigmond Kisfaludi Stróbl on the Gellért Hill to thank the Red Army for liberating them from the Nazis. Little did they know that this liberation meant nearly 45 years of communist dictatorship and Soviet occupation.
