Designed in Beaux-Arts style by Daniel Burnham and built in 1907
Renovated in 1988
Union Station is the most photo-unfriendly place in D.C. The Union Station Redevelopment Corp. its management company, Jones Lang LaSalle, and Amtrak are known to make up arbitrary rules on the spot to stop visitors from taking pictures. After I took this shot, this female rent-a-cop tracked me down and told me that photography in the Grand Hall is prohibited, because it is a private property. In fact, the people of the District of Columbia own the Union Station.
