This shot was taken from Quarry Bay yesterday, when I went out to try to take some advantage of the recent fine weather. But it was too hot to stay out for long.
Some of the buildings in this shot seem to be on reclaimed land. That is to say, it appears that part of the hill has been moved into the harbour before being built on. I assume this made some sort of sense at the time...
A few years ago I lived briefly in Kornhill (stage 2) which consisted of 16 basically identical towers, each with 30 floors of 8 apartments, for a total of just under 4000 apartments. That's the way it's done in HK. One difference is that the "hill" at Kornhill is still pretty much in its original position.
