These older buildings have a taped "X" on each window and a sign on every
shopfront shutter saying "This is an Urban Renewal Authority property". I
suppose "urban renewal" means "replacement of older buildings with newer
and taller buildings" (but I could be wrong).

I will probably post a few more pics of buildings from this area over the
next few days.

This picture is a composite of 2 conversions of the same raw file. I
can't remember exactly, but I think the two conversions are about 4
stops apart. As usual in such cases it's difficult to get the colour
correct especially for the darker parts of the picture but I think
it's probably about right here.
