1st - C68 Motion - Place-stick work by Colin
by

Inspired by an early pioneer of photography, Gjon Mili.
This was taken in a single shot (I won't say how many tries it took to get this...)

Thanks again for the comments. I think the concentration comes from me shouting "keep your head still !!" - I was almost at the point of putting a cymbol stand behind him and using duct tape....

Like all the others said...this is great. Just look at the concentration on his face.

Thanks for all the comments, very glad you like this one.
The setup for the shot evolved over a few days, consists of a "home disco" strobe from Maplins (a UK radio shack), 3m of cheap black cloth and white spray paint on the sticks. Oh yes, and a very patient young drummer, I showed him your comment Shirely, he blushed! :-)

Absolutley stunning Colin. Very creative and executed brillantly. Dennis

Ohmigod, Colin, this just blows me away. You are a very bright and imaginative and talented fellow. Wow!
David Williams02-Nov-2007 23:39
What an excellent shot! Hats off to you on this one and excellent control by the drummer. I have been trying all the wrong things!
Shirley Haden02-Nov-2007 23:04
First let your drummer know he is a very very handsome young man!! And I would think he is so excited about this photo he must just be thrilled with this. He couldn't have paid a top photograper to do any better. I can't see anything at all to improve it one bit!! Give yourself a huge pat on the back Colin. I'm floored that I even know the guy who took this shot. Now I want your autograph! :o)

I meant to ask - do you have a strobe or did you make one - yow will have to thank the young man for the dance of his hands :-)
