1967 MGB/GT, left, vs. 1972 Triumph GT6 Mk. 3 (2995)

"MG Managing Director John Thornley always wanted to build a car that was a GT along the lines of an Aston Martin. With help from Pininfarina, the MGB/GT became the car of Thornley's dreams. It combined the sturdy construction of the MGB with the practicality of a closed car. Thanks to the roof, it was far stiffer and handling was vastly improved. With the vestigial rear seat folded, the pretty couple had substantial luggage capacity.

"The best way to describe the Triumph GT6 is as 'a miniature E-Type.' The similarities are many: It is low and sleek. It's powered by a straight-six engine, has fully independent suspension, and the entire nose lifts for easy access. Buy, best of all, it is affordable to buy and maintain, and it has that unmistakable straight-six snarl. This GT6 Mk3 is the final iteration of the model and, as a result, is the most refined of the line."
