"If the TC was the advance guard of the sports car movement in the United States, the TD was the invasion force, with the vast majority of the almost 30,000 built reaching our shores. The 1250cc engine was unchanged, but the TD gained independent front suspension and rack and pinion steering, although it lost a bit of its predecessor's grace with the switch to 15-inch wheels.
