Prior to this year, the town of Hendersonville, NC had local artists decorate bears that were then placed around town for the summer. In the fall the bears, part of "Barefootin' in Hendersonville", were auctioned off for charity. This year, the theme was changed to "Kidding Around Hendersonville" to commemorate Carl Sandburg's birthdate (he lived in Hendersonville and raised a herd of prize-winning goats).
