Duke Paoa Kahanamoku’s passion was swimming, surfing and canoeing; his love for and proficiency at ocean sports brought him fame and recognition throughout his lifetime.
An Olympic gold medal swimmer in 1912 and 1920, Duke is perhaps better known as “The Father of International Surfing.”
