This lighthouse is located on the eastern port entrance. The first report of a lighthouse at Nieuwpoort is from 1284. In 1881 a stone tower was built. This tower was destroyed in 1914 by the Belgian army during the battle of the IJzer river. Another tower was built in 1923. Unfortunately it was destroyed during World War II.
