This was the start to our whirlwind adventure driving through the Southwest USA, leaving Las Vegas, headed for the Grand Canyon.
I’ve always wanted to drive Route 66! Got to see small sections of the Mother Road along this trip!
As with my previous trips out west, I was traveling with my dear friends, pictured here:

I especially like this because my Dad opened a Mobil service statiom in 1931, and those were the pumps I remember. Brings back so many special memories.

Cool antique set up. I think I've been along about half-a-mile of Route 66 in Santa Monica!
