This is how my official resolution target designed at the beginning of 2004 for the FotoMag magazine looks like (this is actuall shot). It is 120 x 90 cm large, designed for 50x focal length distance shooting. All the published (and many still unpublished) lens tests were done using this target. It consists of 5 resolution groups placed at the center and all 4 corners. They are assembled of both USAF1951 and Norman Koren's resolution targets. Besides usual horizontal/vertical orientation, I have placed targets at 45 degrees angle and those are the ones I'm using for actual tests. The reason for this is severe moire "beating" between CCD cell rows and target lines when aligned. Experiments confirmed my theory that 45 degree placement gives most accurate results with minimum artifacts.
