No its not Fiddler on the Roof. It is the man earmarked to represent Irish Culture
at the St Patrick's Day Parade in Scranton, carrying the enormous stick. Now many
folks ask what does this mean... what is the significance of the "Big Stick?" My
guess it is the same thing it has always meant, dating all the way back to the
caveman; the "big stick" is the ultimate symbol of male dominance and masculinity.
And now, thanks to our good friend Bob from Memphis, we all learn that this big
stick is called a "shillelag." What a great valuable piece of Irish information.
