How fortunate I am, this spring, to find such a lovely photo opportunity outside my front
door. These yellow tulips are blessed with interesting stamens and pistol within the
confines of their delicate, yet beautifully saturated yellow petals. Nestled beneath the
shade of a budding maple tree, the photographer stops down to f/5.6 and sets the exposure
compensation. He keeps his hands steady and opts for iso 100, though it is windy, and the
flowers are in a difficult location where holding the camera steady becomes a Herculean feat.
After the click of the shutter, the photo is transfered to the Mac where it is worked on with
the full power of Photoshop CS. In a precise, methodical way, the photographer uses layers
and masking to make the petals of these luscious tulips to pop. Hope you enjoy.
