Though both from Philadelphia, these two urban special ed kids, posing together in the Chinese restaurant, come from two entirely different worlds and backgrounds. Thomas on the left has been a street toughie, involved in with street gangs. Kareema on the left is a devout Muslim, a true Islamic believer and would never involve herself with gangs. And yet, these two have become close best of friends under the roof of special education in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
