Red-tailed Black-Cockatoo Calyptorhynchus banksii

Melbourne bushland

Rare Black Cockatoo.... beautiful bird: I believe that this is a female Red-tailed Black-Cockatoo Calyptorhynchus banksii. The males have a distinctly red rather than yellow colouring. (Thanks to 'Guest' for pointing that fact out.

It is actually a female red-tailed black cockatoo. The yellow tailed has yellow ear patches and no spots on the body. Nice photo by the way!!!

Fabulous shot of a remarkable bird. How lucky to see it.
