After running in circles and covering a couple of acres of trees this female Pileated Woodpecker finally stopped for a few seconds. She was trying to protect her baby on the ground. You can read about the baby by looking at the "baby pileated woodpecker" photo in this same section. If you don't like sad stories then you don't want to read the caption I added to that photo.
