Hi Victor,
My Did owned an Ercoupe back in the late 40s to 1950. Great little plane. In April of 1950 he took off from the Danville Va. airport and had only been up about five minutes when the a part of the propeller broke off. It was a wooden prop. He said he was about 1200 feet up. He had to shut the power of because it was vibrating so bad. To far out to return back to the airport. He was over Dan River. He said he was going to land on a plot of land next to the river. Didn't make the land. Had to put it down in the river. It flipped up side down. Didn't hurt dad or his friend. Messed the ercoupe up.
