Packwood Glacier From Pacific Crest Trail, Sept. 1977

This is the one spot on the Pacific Crest Trail were the route actually crossed a living Glacier and the risk of sliding into a crevasse was totally real. In fact in 1978, the forest service " Blasted " a trail/route 500 feet above this spot. But today this Glacier Is nearly gone,,,

Your fact about the disappearance is amazing. The image is outstanding!

Interesting image and unfortunate update on its current condition. Global warming or just natural causes?
