Black Bellied Swamp Snake

Went for a bush walk today a bit further up the mountains. Sandy spotted this one on the track and its about 60 cm long. As far as I can tell its a Black Bellied Swamp Snake. Apparently can give you a painful bight but is not dangerous. If it is a BBSS then it is towards the southern end of its range. We havn't seen one before so was an interesting find.

Great find, well spotted amongst the leafy camouflage. Thanks for the info, will look them up in my reptile book.
