I knocked that church down in the 80s and indeed it has a burial crypt beneath it which was probably from the first church that stood there 15-or 16 century i slid the York stone slab that covers it open and went down there only to find several skeletons laying on the shelves didn't stay down to long. I did sweep the York stone that had etched writing on it, the bell was removed and the font was smashed to bits in front of officials so that it never fell in to the hands of the black magic i have some photos of us demolishing it

When we were young our nan took us to Leysdown on the bus, and I always looked for the church. Then I knew we were in Leysdown. If it was cloudy, the bell tower always have me the creeps because it looked haunting.

Yes it was, and it also has a burial crypt that was beneath the centre of the church covered by a very large stone slab with ech fighting on it.the chamber has stone shelves placed down the walls. This slab was a good 18 inch deeper than the over site with no visual stone nor markings inside the church, were in the church footprint it is i can't remember

Hi Trevor,
I believe I was the last person to be married in this church before it was demolished. Unfortunately the marriage is also demolished in 2000.
In answer to the question about the missing bell - It was rung when I was married there after being told that it could not be used as the tower/fittings were thought to be insafe.
I believe the Vicar moved somewhere on the South Coast.

Was this the church that had a bell missing?
