Wonderful frozen motion, I can hear Ride of the Valkeries in the background as I look.

Amazing shot! The background is perfect, it frames the geese perfectly instead of making them disappear. Well done!

Me too I wish I could do that. But in my daily walks I run into a totally different kind of stuff!
Superb capture.

Beautiful shot Larry...just georgeous!
snootydog15-Sep-2004 12:36
As I see someone else has commented already, this has a very "winged migration" feel to it. That was a phenomenal piece of artwork just as this is a beautiful photo. You got the focus against the soft background so nicely.
Guest 15-Sep-2004 09:43
Splendid - (Wish I could do that)
Wendy Stanford15-Sep-2004 02:23
This makes me feel like I'm right up there flying along with them. What an incredibly great photo (like all of yours that I've seen so far)!

Each change of season there are a flock of geese that fly over my home. As I have stood and watched them - never have been able to capture them via camera. This is such a fantastic visual this morning. Amazing they are and it shows in your image.
Guest 14-Sep-2004 12:43

Guest 14-Sep-2004 12:26
Excellent! Particularly like the geese caught in flight, the DOF, and the composition (flying from bottom right to top left).

Outstanding

Larry,
This is wonderful. You've caught so many in flight at once. The solid background of trees adds a really unusual look. Super job!
Yvonne14-Sep-2004 12:03
Wonderful! I don't think we have anything to compare in Australia.
You have an amazing eye & control to have captured them in motion.
Chris14-Sep-2004 11:56
superb. CH

This one is awesome. It gives the feeling of flying with them. My vote, too.
Larry Ahern14-Sep-2004 11:08
Well Howard this picture was taken with a 300MM zoom at full zoom. It was hand held. I was walking along the shore of a local pond and saw the geese feeding. They flew when they saw me coming. I have practiced a lot at getting moving objects at full zoom hand held. Hundreds of blury messes deleted in the process ... thank god for digital:)
Guest 14-Sep-2004 10:54
I do like this. Any help for the rest of us? Like did you have to grab your camera for a quick shot? Do you shoot automatic, or were you waiting, prepared with a fast shutter speed to catch those wings? For me, I seldom can prepare, so I have to toss that camera up quickly and then miss the shot. But that's me.
Lori Rolfe14-Sep-2004 10:21
