Queen Anne’s Lace
Wild Carrot
Bird’s Nest

This picture shows how it got the ‘bird’s nest’ name.
Queen Anne’s lace is a member of the parsley family as is the carrot.
If you plant carrots and do not pick them they will come back up in the following
spring as Queen Anne’s lace. The plant has a two year cycle.
The first year it does not flower but produces a larger and sweeter root
(from which the carrot is derived).
The second year it produces the lovely lacy flower and seeds.

Darn, I just pulled all my carrots - even the ones that were only one inch long.... Oh, well, live and learn. And by the way, the photo is INCREDIBLE !!!

Great DOF, Larry. And interesting botany lesson. I have no idea what half the stuff in my garden is or what I'm supposed to do with it!
