Heading east on Interstate 80 in Utah

Interstate 80, near Utah Exit 62 view map

Lakeside was one of the destinations of my May 2008 trip to Utah.
It is, as they say, "off the beaten track." That's what I liked about it.

I disavow any knowledge of having risked my life by using my right hand
to hold the camera that took this picture as I drove at 70 mph (118km/h).

Mr. Greenwell, did yu attend school in Lucin, Utah? I remember when we lived in Lucin, we lived in a big house with no electricity. I remember walking to school when I was in Kindegarter or 1st grade? The first row in the school were kindergartners, 2nd row was 1st grade and so on. I am trying to find a photo of the school and the house we lived in Lucin. Please help me tell me who. Could help me. My home phone number is 757-484-2989. I live in Portsmouth, Va. My name is Lydia (Lopez) Baucom.

My name is Glen Greenwell. I lived there from 1943 to 1952. My dad (same name) worked for the Southern Pacific. Among my earliest memories as a child, (I was born in 1938), were the many trains headed west, with military troops who would throw us candy ans the trains passed by. Many trains loaded with weapons of war, also westwaard bound, passed through Lakeside. At night we could hear the distant explosions of bombs on the bombing range, which was used for practice bombing out of Wendover Air Base, located at the northern end of the Boneville Flats. After the end of the war, we would go out on the old bombing range and pick up pieces of shrapnel. Lakeside was a great place to grow up. These photos are a pilgrimage into the past. Thank you for posting them. I am on Facebook and also emai: valwara@gmail.com. Thanks for reviving long ago but not forgotten memories,
