This was shot hand held at Subic rainforest from in excess of 100 feet away. The bird was perched with its back to me, then suddenly it turned around to face me. I let go of a burst, and one frame caught it while it was raising its wings to balance itself. Shooting against the light with high ISO is one of my worst nightmares. While the lousy background and foreground makes this capture far from aesthetically pleasing, it somehow barges into my Top endemics list because of the rarity of this raptor. It's not easy to find this bird, much less approach and photograph it in its natural habitat.
