Painted Bunting (Passerina ciris)

Bowie, MD

This male Painted Bunting is the second one that I have photographed in Maryland. In February, 2008, I photographed one in Arnold, MD. This one was photographed in Bowie, MD on April 11, 2010. It would be interesting to know if it is the same bird. Either way, they are way off course and are rarely seen this far north.

The Bowie homeowner has been very gracious to the birding community. It was first sighted in late February.

Oh my gosh... I saw a bird like this a few weeks back and thought someone's pet bird escaped. Lol I spent a week looking online to see if anyone was looking for it. Hahaha Guess that's why no one every was looking for their lost bird.

I had the wonderful opportunity to see one of these with his mate in Mayflower, Arkansas. My friend called and told me this tropical looking Bird was hovering at her
eindow. I came over and to my surprise this Bird looked like tropical bird. In the forest of Arksnsas. The female was brownish grey with a hint of yellow. They stayed in her little birdhouse for a while, a month then disappeared. Bes utiful birds.
