I am in London today – and what a day it’s been…..
5.30am start from home, returning home at 5.45am to pick up Patti’s phone which she’s left there! A 250 mile drive to London arriving there at 10am. Then a client meeting, then off to another location some 20 miles away for another client meeting, then back for a further internal meeting. By the time my parents arrived at my office, I felt as though I’d been through a mangle.
Mum and Dad have decided to ‘get their affairs in order’ and have asked my sister and I to perform certain legal functions for them so they popped over to get me to sign some documents in front of a witness, which of course I gladly did.
Having taken the opportunity to meet up, we went and had supper together and they had a car full of ‘stuff’ for me, which is now in my car to go home to Cornwall.
One of the things they gave me, my heart shrank about – it’s this Strelitzia reginae (Bird of Paradise plant). Why did my heart shrink because I’ve been whittering on about losing my one last year when I moved? Well, because I saw the fake flower and assumed that the whole thing was fake. In fact, the plant is real and some wag at the nursery decided to put these fake flowers into the pots because it’s not easy to see what the plant becomes unless you are ‘in the know’.
So – thanks Mummy and Daddy for seeking this plant out to replace the one I lost. It’s much appreciated – I just hope I can coax it into flowering in less than ten years this time!
I must say, I do like the idea of pretending to be something you are.....now there is a thought!
I was putting a wine bottle to good use last year.
