The heat today has been extraordinary - I, and a few million London workers, were subjected to the slowly melting torture that is the London tube - the heat was so bad that I thought I would faint. I had to go to our City of London office to participate in a group discussion for my sins. It was another one of those 'oh I wish I hadn't read that book on the train' days, when I realised Man and Wife was another of those sad, emotional books that have you blubbing before the blink of an eye - or even before a whole crowded commuter train!
When I came out of my meeting, I noticed this chap - most of the time I have my head down and am scurrying between station and office and barely notice anything but today, the sheer pleasure of being in heat of a mere 30 degrees or so in the street compared to probably 40+ in the tube, meant I walked more slowly and took it all in.
