My Mum and Dad needed a portrait of the two of them together. I’m not quite sure of how it’s going to be used but the requester has asked them for a shot of the two of them with their heads close together. They asked me to help so I got them into the studio and took a shot with which all three of us were quite happy.
The price of the sensible shot for them was to pose for this daft shot for me. They quite enjoyed it I think.
My folks are going to celebrate their Golden Wedding anniversary in a few weeks time by renewing their vows in the church where they got married. Which of them is the long-suffering partner of the other? Well, my Dad gets cross with my Mum for loving soap operas and my Mum gets cross with my Dad for dozing on the sofa.
They spend their days like many long-married folks with gentle bickering and leg-pulling. They dote on their kids (me and Jan), along with their grand-kids and seem genuinely happier now than they have ever been. They’ve mellowed together like a good stilton and port, although a bit less (well, OK quite a lot less) smelly!
I doubt that Dad would really strangle Mum – he knows very well which side
his bread is buttered on and equally, Mum’d never “pan Dad” even though she threatens it from time to time.
Whatever the case, I think they’re both lovely – they’re my special Mummy and Daddy, just as I’m still their little girl.
