What was originally built as a "working/canning" kitchen but converted by previous owners into a laundry/storage room. That opened "casement" window was the style throughout the house when we moved in and were all single-paned. You had to "hand-crank" them out, none had screens on them so if you opened any, you were allowing insects/small reptiles/outdoor cats inside access.
