Ambush bug (Phymata)

Mer Bleue area

Mid-summer brings out lots of ambush bugs. They sit very still on vegetation, sometimes hiding, waiting for an insect to land, at which point they attack. This one was on a black-eyed susan wildflower, near the trail today. You can tell how small it is if you think about the size of the flower.
