Because this is the time of year to look for mushrooms and other fungi, I went out to a woodlot that I know has a reasonable variety of different species. I was not disappointed. These puffballs were the first thing I saw, great masses of them densely clustered on logs. This particular group with the sun filtering through the trees especially caught my eye.
