Rock Art - Hand Stencils

Newnes plateau, NSW view map

Hand stencils are the most common type of aboriginal rock art found in the Blue
Mountains. The mountains never supported a very large population apparently, but
it is worth looking for rock art in places like this - wherever it may have survived
weather and the graffiti of later-arriving cultures. But don't touch it! – it's fragile.
