The western part of the Blue Mountains includes a plateau more or less north of Clarence, given over partly to pine plantations, but including bits of two national parks: Wollemi and Garden of Stone. On the fringes of this plateau there are "pagoda" sandstone formations, there are gorges and old farm sites, there is an old railway formation which runs through a tunnel now colonised by glow-worms, and there are the massive ruins at Newnes which was once a major industrial centre. Worth visiting, or at least looking at the pictures. For more pictures of Newnes, go to my "Old Mining Towns of NSW" gallery. Click on https://pbase.com/lambsfeathers/ghosts
