It seems to be going on everywhere. It is sad.

It's the trend worldwide...sad and not always beneficial to those other than the ones saving $$$ if they can.

strange that the govenour had to announce how much money he gather for the project
education should be provide for free, and the taxpayer should pay for the buildings
great image Karen about how things not should be

No wonder home schooling is becoming more popular.

They haven't started doing much of that here yet and I think it is sad too. Part of the reason we moved where we did is I can walk my daughter ten minutes up the road to her school of less than 400 students for JK to Grade 8 starting next year. I hope it stays that way for her.

West Virginia has some very mountainous and curvey roads, I would be sick if I had to ride the bus very far!! They are closing some of our schools too. It seems to be a sign of the times.

I don't know why they do that. I think that the smaller the classes, the better. Sad.

Makes you think.

The gov't is about the only entity spending construction money these days...

Unfortunately it is a sign of the times in the US....

I'm usually opposed to this kind of centralization on the principle that it's usually about saving money first and quality maybe second. (Stepping off soap box, quietly but reluctantly)

Interesting as there are moves afoot to close some of the smaller schools here in Ireland too. Schools are a vital
part of a vibrant community so it's sad to see them close.
